Château-Saint-Georges
Once a walled fortress, Château-St- Georges sits impressively atop a prominent hillside overlooking St.-Émilion and Montagne. It has long produced the best known wine of the tiny satellite appellation St. Georges-St.-Émilion. The vineyard is comprised of 60% Merlot and 20% each Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with the oldest Merlot vines planted in the 1950’s. Château St.-Georges consistently produces a rich, ripe wine that is supple, fruity yet well-structured, a wine that can give immense pleasure when young and with the ability to age gracefully for 15 to 20 years.
